There are several reasons why an employee may quit working at a company:
- Being bullied by other employees
- No room to grow within the company
- Leave the company for better pay
- Want more benefits
These are just a couple of reasons why an employee may leave, however, the number one reason that they leave a company is that they don’t like the workplace or the boss!
Employees are your best asset to the company, without them it would be hard to manage it. There is only one way to solve this issue – make your employees the workplace and love you! Some employers may call this “sucking up” but if that’s what it takes to prevent your employees from quitting, then wouldn’t it be worth it?
What are some ways to make employees love you and the workplace? Give them perks that other companies do not offer.
Surprise your employees with a day off – Many working parents are constantly running around and barely ever have time for themselves, why not give them a bit of downtime, especially, if you’re a company that can afford it.
Offer your employees with a variety of feedback – An employee is more likely to accept negative feedback when initiated with a positive first.
Bring snacks from time to time for your employees – This might seem like a strange thing for an employer to do, but employees love when a boss is thinking about them. It’s a small gesture, but it’s “the small things that count.”
Treat every employee equally – Yes, some of your employees may be your friend outside of work and you have your favorites, but the moment you show that one employee is more important than the other in the workplace – you become a bad boss!
Make the break room a play room for your employees – Work is tough on the mind, which can take a toll on the body; give your employees a break from tension and allow them to be kids again. Place board games and other games in the break room for employees to enjoy. Making your break room a play will encourage employee engagement.
Encourage employees to take time off – Most companies allow allotted vacation time to employees, don’t neglect one of the main benefits that employees look forward to every year. Respond with confidence and encourage this well-deserved time of year.
There are several creative ways to keep your employees around. Don’t be that boring, cliché workplace. Have fun and promote employee engagement. Make your employees love being at the workplace. An employee that loves their job is definitely more productive.
